Well one things leads to another. In this case, one YouTube tutorial (the Sun Poster image) lead to another space based tutorial. and it looked cool, and very interesting image, so I had to try it out.

This image is the result of my last image, the exploding planet. After reviewing the YouTube tutorial, a list of recommended videos come up. In the list was one on how to make a sun and I decided to do this one next.

In two of my previous images I have made planets, so I guess it is ok to destroy a planet. After all I am still one planet ahead in the whole scheme of things and I didn’t need a Death Star to do it!

I can’t say how many times I have seen this effect done – it seems to be a standby for all print houses that want to say “we have an eye for colour” (or color if you are from the U.S). Despite being over done in print publications, the image is effective.
It occurred to me that I had never done this image. I decided to give it a try, and it worked. Actually it was amazingly simple to do. I think it took about 5 min. It definitely falls in the “easy-to-do, but very effective” group of special effects.

This image started off as a digital sun-burst created in Photoshop. The effect is cool, but I wanted to play with it a bit more, so I decided to turn it into a wine label… not sure why, but it seemed to be a good idea…
