Tutorial: How to Create a Retro Poster With an Astronaut Child in Adobe Illustrator – Envato Tuts
This set of images brings together three things I have done before: my ability to convert an illustrator tutorial in Affinity Designer project, flat art/retro art style and a space image!
I chose to do these images for a couple of reasons:
- My desire to improve my skills with Affinity Designer. I have only had Affinity Designer for a few months, but I have worked with Illustrator for years, so the desire to improve my Affinity Designer skills is very important to me. This tutorial was very helpful in it didn’t have over structured step-by-step instructions, it sort of said “crate the following using the following tools”.
- My desire to create an image with a person in it. It was a bit of a surprise to realize that I have not created and posted an image with a person in it. Sure I have edited photos of people, but I have not drawn an image of a person for my blog. There is a reason for that, I sort of suck drawing people, but this image had a very basic design and I felt that my drawing skills were up to the challenge…. and they sort of were.
- General love of space images and flat art/retro images, and this image had both.
If you look at the original tutorial, there is an image with a space child floating over the moon, but there is no image with a child a spaceship. So why did I create the image of a spaceship? I didn’t like the idea of the child astronaut just floating in space with no way to get home. Besides, 1950’s style rockets are cool.
