Blended Images - Dual Threat

Software: Photoshop CC

Tutorial:  Image Inside Text with a Twist from How to Create BADA$$ Effects in Photoshop

I guess after three sports related images a well deserved drink is in order. Ok maybe not well deserved, but semi-deserved.

The cool thing about this image is it’s great use of splatter images (for lack of a word) as masks, backgrounds and textures. The other cool thing is that the impact of final image is definitely greater than the individual images that make up the image.

World Cup – Blended Patterns and Images

A third sports image in a row – I guess we now have a trend. What made this image creation interesting to me was the creation and using of the grid in the background. It was quick and easy, but effective – it helps make the image visually more interesting.

I guess summer is basiclly here. A good sign of that is the last two entries into the gallery have been sports images. I am not sure it is a trend, but worth taking note of.

Once again a quick and easy image to create – the best part was how easy it was to move the overlay blocks to make the image work better. This was an image that doing some fiddling paid off with much better results.

I saw this Book for sale for 40% off – How could I resist?

I found this image quick and easy to do – but there a few tips in the tutorial I would have missed if I had tried to do this image without the tutorial. So it was educational.

Another Space based graphic tutorial – how could I resist? I guess I am weak, and of course I added Ontario Science Centre version.

Elvis Letterpress poster

Elvis Letterpress Poster

Software: Adobe Photoshop CC

Tutorial: Blue LightingTV YouTube Channel – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrfD5-FxNkg

My first posting of 2017 (mind you I did the artwork in late 2016… sigh).

Speaking of the past, letterpress printing is a style of printing that was popular before the more flexable offset printing took over (which has been replaced by digital printing). Letterpress can trace it’s roots back to Gutenburg in the 1400’s. One of the features of letterpress is it’s texture, colour overlays and sublity of colour variations.

One company who took advantage (and is still taking advantage) of the letterpress printing is the Hatch Show Print company (Nashville)  who in the 1920’s to the 1960’s created lots of posters for the various vaudville and country music acts. The Hatch Show Print Company made posters for Hank Snow, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Elvis and more. This poster is an attempt to create some of the style of a Johnny Cash poster that the Hatch company created in the 1960’s.

I find it amusing that we use extreamly accuriate digital tools to recreate a style of printing that was popular before computers were invented.

Water Phone

Every now and then I want to do an image that is just fun to do and maybe a bit quirky. This water drop phone image fit the bill. It was fun to do, but even more enjoyable was that I did not follow the instructions 100% – I wanted to make small changes which gave me a bit of a mental workout.

I am semi-sure that this phone is an apple iPhone, if is was a Samsung phone I guess flames should be coming out of the phone.
