Captain America – Winter Soldier Poster

Software: Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1

Tutorial: BakaArts YouTube Channel

Thanks to Photoshop it is possible to create some very amazing images fairly easily (note: I said fairly easily… not easily). But no matter how many filters, layer effects, layer styles, blending modes and more, sometimes it just comes down to trial and error, experimentation and just going with what works.

This image is a good example of this. This image was very much one that involved a lot of experimentation, especially when it came to textures on the shield. The image took over 30 layers and most of them where there to give the shield texture and each one seemed to have their own blending mode, opacity level or style. The result was a lots of experimentation and a few wrong turns, but in the end I did end up with a good looking image. The only area that I am not 100% happy with is the red patches on the shield. I think I went through a dozen different attempts (and some hair pulling) to make it look right, but in the end I decided that it was never going to be 100% perfect (but it not 100% wrong either, so I guess it all works out).

P.S. – I hope the Captain America – Winter Soldier movie is as much fun as the Thor – The Dark World movie
