Software: Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1

Tutorial: Photoshop Elements Master Class

This image shows how in Photoshop something can be made from almost nothing. The planet was made in Photshop. The original image used was of an image of a rusty piece of metal. A planet made from rusted metal.. the ultimate form of recycling.

Once again this was a very fast image to create. The whole planet with shadow and flair was made in about 5 minutes. The Distort, Gaussian Blur and Lens Flair filters do all the heavy lifting.

I had a bit of fun with the type for the “Journey to the Planets” text. The font used is Eurostile. This font was used in almost every 1960 and 1970 science fiction television show including UFO, Dr. Who and Star Trek Enterprise, but not the original Star Trek. Microgramma was the font used on the original Star Trek Enterprise, but Eurostile is an updated version of Microgramma (Microgramma lacked lower-case characters and bold weights). So Eurostile is a font that bold goes where no font has gone berfore!
